Opening Meet & Hog Roast………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Well what an evening to remember as someone said to me at the start of the meet isn’t this where we left of last year in the Rain! But did this deter any of the NNH riders not in the least.
Nigel Kirk Kennel Huntsman lead out the hounds from the meet followed by fourteen happy mounted riders kitted up for the rain and wind, which from a car follower’s point of view seemed to subside a little but I am sure the mounted field had different thoughts.
It was good to see a few new faces in the field and look forward to seeing them out more in the coming season.
The hounds were joined by a few new entry hounds for this season and the pack held tightly together following the trail.
After nearly two hours the field returned to their boxes in the half light, all happy and smiling with my good lady looking like a cat that got the cream saying ` That’s it were off and running for another season’
With all Horses and hounds fully boxed all retired to the marque in the garden of Skeyton Lodge for a fantastic Hog roast prepared by our host Roger Bradbury, who put on a fantastic spread as ever. Inside the Marque the lighting and chat was just perfect to end the opening meet for the 2013/14 season.
Our thanks go to Roger for putting on yet another memorable evening.

NNNH 2013 Breakfast Ride……………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
The annual breakfast ride at Salle took place on the morning of 31/8/13 in perfect sunshine, at 8.30 a total of 36 very excited mounted riders, some for their very first time with the NNH set off behind the Hounds and Huntsman Chris Carman &Kennel/Huntsman Nigel Kirk for a trot and canter in the lanes of Salle to Rockery farm Thurning.
After an eventful ride passing tractors and a man pulling old tyres (Yes must have been more mad then us!!) while out running, and may spectators out to see what all the commotion was all about, we arrived for a very good breakfast provided for all the riders and foot followers by our hosts the Keys whom we thank gratefully.
After much coffee and chat the riders set off back in the now hot temperatures of this August morning to box up and await the next event at Mr Bradbury’s on the 10th September.

Early Morning Bike Ride Report
................................................................................................................................................................
After a very wet night in the Guist area the night before, we arrived thinking that the expected number of hardy riders would be down, but no just the opposite 27 hardy bikers!! Turned up ready for the ride kitted out for the expected rain (Except a certain red whip holder who had to revert to Andrew Ralli's Oil Skins!!).
Hounds were exercised by Chris the Master Huntsman with the two wheeled pack in hot pursuit.
After a leisurely ride around the lanes of Gatley all returned to the Kennels for the much needed tea and bacon rolls kindly served up by Sue Kirk.
After much laughter and chat about the morning a few departed wishing they had used the bike a bit more often in the summer.
The event was well supported and thanks go to all, making the Hunt funds £120.00p

...............................................................................................................................................................
The North Norfolk Harrier’s supporters club held a Dog Show and Fun Day at the kennels on Saturday the 10th August, the event was held in the lovely setting of the paddocks opposite the kennels in almost perfect conditions. The gates opened at 12-30 with a steady stream of enthusiastic dog owners all looking to take a top prize. The Dog show events were managed with precision timing by Gina Carman and the Judge Mrs Julie Allen had the task of deciding which of the canine entries would make the grade, all went to plan with the classes finishing with a fine win by Cecil and his Master, applauded by all present. The children (And some adults.) were entertained with various traditional games alongside the bouncy castle.Tea cakes, Pym’s (Spelt the NNH way) and refreshments were on hand for the visitors, and the Barbeque went down a storm following the introduction of Coconut in replacement for onions, a very tropical addition. To keep the visitors amused while waiting for their next show class, various stalls were available for them to browse and purchase that must have item, these included Bric Brac & second-hand Books, a second-hand tack stall, Tombola and the Harvest Hare selling fine country items. The day ended with great fun at the Terrier racing event with Nigel Kirk in charge of the starting blocks, Mick Allen at the loading bay,( Head first please!!) and Andrew Rayleigh on the F1 Style racing machine at the far end. At 50p an entry the dogs just keep coming, with an excited crowd cheering on any size of dog to get to Andrew first. After this very enjoyable day all went away happy and the Supporters Club funds were boosted by a profit of £495.00p
Big thanks go to all who helped and sponsored the event.
